Those who wanted to curry favor with Akhenaten, whose unusual appearance was probably due to Marfan's Syndrome, began having themselves depicted in tomb art as looking like him, with elongated limbs and necks and faces, and heavy hips and large bellies.

Oh, no. I went to look at Benu again, and found a pen with Thoth on it! Anyone want to buy a kidney? 😭

Even before Kermit and his banjo, ol' Pogo already knew that. 😁

@whatsmacksaid.bsky.social, something arrived in today's post that has Medieval Cat's interest (don't worry, he's not attacking, just using his sword as a pointer). Can't wait to read it! 😁

For a moment I thought you meant one of the coyotes was Loki's nemesis, which would have been cool but also a little worrisome. 😅

I've never lived close enough to get acquainted with coyotes, though I did share a mutual "WIMDY" look with one on the edge of the Badlands once.

Joe vs the Volcano. It's funny, it's philosophical, it's surrealist, it's absurdist, and just about every damn shot is a work of art.

I've never seen either version. The original photo was light blue-grey (HSV 220, 29, 73) and muddy gold (44, 43, 48). I just checked in a paint program. And that's what I saw. So I've always been baffled by people who *see* dark blue and black (as opposed to guessing), because it's just not there.

Wouldn't it be easier to just close the window?

Just found that BlueSky number folks have been talking about. Not within the first million, but lower than my ICQ number (if anyone remembers that)... so if this trend continues I'll be within a meaningful distance of the first users of a new social media platform in about 173 years.

If you see this post, show 4 of your favorite games. (I've never done one of these nested quote things before, whee. 😁)

Baffling. Especially given that most of these ancient figures would have them executed for insurrection. 🧐

But what about the pharaoh Hatshepsut as a sphinx? What could we make that mean?

And now it's just bucketing down. Fortunately (for me, not for others, stay safe out there) the big tornado-producing stuff is off to the south. The sump pump's getting a workout tonight.

A few minutes ago the sky was cloudy and grey, but I could hear the rumble of thunder approaching. Now I can actually watch the full darkness of the storm roll across the horizon, and the thunder is non-stop. Tornado warnings nearby, but so far nothing bad overhead.

My dogs are all dead. My cats are all dead. My guinea pig is dead. And the landlord dug up all the flowers.

Best I can do is a mourning dove who sat on the front porch railing a couple of months ago.

So... When I was 17, I couldn't afford a car, so I got a Honda scooter. The big kind, with the little cargo thing on the back.

That picture is giving me flashbacks. I was 6'5", over 300 lbs, on a little anti-cool scooter. At least I was aware I looked ridiculous. 🙄

Every time I see a picture of one, I think of the old Amiga game Arctic Fox, only far, far less cool.
