misinformation is a very real issue, the problem was it was folded into a power-flattering pseudo epistemology where only grimy foreigners and YouTubers were capable of doing it when some of the biggest promoters of misinformation are the NYT and Atlantic. This bred cynicism and indifference.
Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.

I will say, it's always been funny to me how Hollywood churns out evil corporate executive villains bc they KNOW it resonates w/ the general public
Like they're so fixated on profit/so sure of their safety, they're willing to pander to anti-capitalist sentiment
