I know the game awards shouldn’t be taken seriously, like at all. But seeing this game pushed as “the new face of indie games” is absolutely saddening when I’ve seen that indie devs can do WAY better than this on much smaller budgets. I just want real artists to thrive in this capitalist hell scape.

But the game’s reliance on being as safe and inoffensive as possible is a signal to upcoming devs who don’t know better that “Hey, don’t try to do anything unique, just do what’s already been done before” is the complete opposite of what makes the indie scene so special (2/?)

Clair Obscur has done more damage to the games industry and the indie dev scene than it’s done good. By letting the big names decide what’s considered “indie”, it not only sets people’s expectations for real indie games unrealistically high for what to expect from games that size (1/?)
