Has nobody noticed the difference between these sentences: "Kirk was practicing politics in exactly the right way" (as printed in the NYT), and today's paraphrase 1/2

continued: I'm in my 60s, and I know that Trump will be far worse for people in similar situations; nevertheless, I get it when people shrug off the positive economic indicators. Outside of larger coastal cities, perhaps, it ain't trickling down.
