There is no security in people, only in emotion which is ever-changing. There is no security in ideas, only people. I filled myself with helium and tied me to his wrist. Cried when he crafted me a sandbag and helped me choose the color of its foil wrapping. My roots tend to combust so it is hard to hold myself down. This is on purpose: a self-immolation, the way forests burn to spark regeneration. But I cannot forget the burrowing, after — reintegration into earth I scorched and can only reanimate myself, digging deep deep; pulling up; weaving threads I re-contextualize into knowing potential.”

In my panel presentation at the Queens Museum #Poetry Symposium yesterday, I played with #Swift vibes - just in time for the Eras Tour finale! 🫶 This is one #poem I wrote during my preparations for the event.
ANTI-HERO I have been known to kiss my ghosts in the finery I bought them to make a finer subject in their trappings as I rewrite their obits. Lover wasn't a label, so I filled in all the blanks with it: tone (mine, his) dictating the closeness of our nonexistent ties, the lack of return on my moon eyes. I prefer myself through a lens, not reflected due to a passion for dissection. When I face the mirror my image dazzles me apart.
