i think an adaptation should be authentic to the source material rather than babying the audience by watering down its “controversial” elements

It's a freeware indie open-world rpgmaker game that was apparently really influential in the japanese indie scene in the early '00s but didn't get a fanTL until a couple years ago
It's fun, but a bit grindy and obtuse at times. Would still recommend tho

The Epic of Gilgamesh
(not an april fools post, i had to read it for one of my classes)
It’s astonishing how well this story holds up, given how old it is. Its depiction of the human condition and its core theme of belongingness is fascinating.
It’s also, like, *really* good fujo-bait.

just discovered this interesting Korean RPG from the early 2000s called "Seal: Travelers of Destiny". It looks neat, but I don't speak any of the languages it's available in 🥲
Also, despite it having Japanese and Chinese translations, the only download I can find is for the original Korean version.

I really liked this game, actively poking around for secrets and going for as many achievements as I could. To my knowledge, I did basically everything I feasibly could in a single playthrough.
