Do you require exams to be handwritten, or are they using computers in the exam room?

When I was in college 10-15 years ago, most exams were written by hand unless it was a long-form essay that would take multiple hours to research and complete.

Worth noting that McAdoo was responsible for segregating the Treasury department, one of the first Cabinet departments to be segregated. So the whole “public be pleased” thing is pretty ironic. www.federalreservehistory.org/people/willi...

The “down more than 6%” for the US automakers is based on pre-market trading and isn’t like-for-like with the movements they mentioned for Europe & Asia because there’s limited liquidity outside of normal market hours

They could’ve made it clearer, but the distinction is that stock markets in Europe and Asia were already open for the day when this article was published. Shares in US automakers haven’t traded during regular trading hours yet b/c tariff was announced after market close & US market hasn’t opened yet

They put me to sleep for an upper GI endoscopy. First and only time I’ve been sedated. When I woke up it felt like the most refreshing nap I’ve ever taken…also the most expensive nap I’ve ever taken

The US also has one of the highest sedation rates in the world for upper GI endoscopies (~98%). Sedation accounts for 30-50% of the cost of the procedure according to this pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

They may have been right initially, but due to human psychology, the longer they took to acknowledge the data, the harder it was to admit they were wrong and reverse course with a new policy response. That’s my theory, at least. (2/2)

Yes, Biden said inflation was transitory in July ‘21. Janet Yellen said the same around that time, but this past March she said she came to regret saying that. The Fed also thought it would be transitory, which is why some argue they waited too long to cut rates after inflation heated up. (1/2)

That makes sense in hindsight, but at the time maybe they thought negative press about the threat to American Industry outweighed the potential beneficial effects of repealing. Recall that it was hotly debated whether inflation would be temporary & how quickly it could cool off post-COVID reopening

Oh that’s interesting about the windshield washers. I know newer Volvos also have humidity sensors in the cabin which the A/C system uses to help decide when to use fresh air

A lot of newer cars with auto climate control default to recirculation mode when outdoor temps are above a certain threshold. Recirculation mode helps cool down the car quicker and reduces load on the compressor, which reduces energy use. Most newer Toyotas do this

This is also one of the buildings issued a stop-work order in July due to labor violations. The developer was also the chairman of JC’s Construction Board of Appeals, which the city council has since dissolved www.nj.com/hudson/2024/...

So does this mean such buildings could be built practically anywhere in the country? Or only in places where local laws don’t expressly prohibit this type of building?
