I am opposed to any supplying of weapons or intel to Israel from any country. I am very consitant in my view that people have the right to self determination which is why I support both Ukraine and Palestine. Supporting Ukraine & Israel, or Russia & Palestine in those combinations to be nonsensical

But before the 2014 revolution, Russia had heavy influence over Ukraine which prevented closer ties with Europe or joining NATO.

It shouldnt be a surprise that these nations which had endured Russian occupation all the way back to the Russian empire, would want to have support that would prevent this from happening again. Had Ukraine been able to join NATO before 2014 the invasion of Crimea would likely not have happened.

Now, what was going on in the region that could have prompted former eastern bloc countries to join a military alliance to counter russian aggression? In the 90s and 2000s the Russian federation was engaged in conflicts in former soviet teritories.

I dont see how this is a valid counter argument. Heusinger was head of NATO from 57-61. Now, should he have ever been given this position? Absolutely not. But former easter bloc nations joined NATO after 1999. 38 years after he was head of NATO, and 17 years after he had died.
