Fascinating cooperation at my backyard feeding station. It is hard to see but the finch is pulling out peanuts and dropping them to the squirrel underneath. The finch rained down peanuts for the squirrels for over a minute. My peanuts last 1-2 days between filling because of this.

Watching the coverage of the BC wind decision and want to correct some poor framing. Wind developments aren’t just about birds but the entire construction phase as well. Building access roads can damage creeks and habitat and environmental assessments help avoid major impacts protecting salmon etc..

Parents, take every chance you have to hug your kids at this time of year as the time will come when they won’t be around to be hugged.

Really surprised by the provincial NDP decision to forgo environmental assessments for wind projects in BC. EAs provide critical inputs into these projects. This policy choice goes exactly backwards on doing big projects right from an environmental perspective.

For the last 15-20 years my wife and I have lived a low-carbon lifestyle relying on 1 car for our busy family. Kids’ sports, however, seem to be the biggest challenge with 2 teen kids doing sports the logistics of our life gets really complicated, really quickly

I am always amazed at the diversity of fauna inhabiting my suburban neighborhood. In the last 24 hrs our backyard has hosted:

a family of raccoons
a family of skunks
2 black squirrels
1 grey squirrel
countless finches and chickadees
a flock of bushtits
a Northern Flicker and
2 Anna’s hummingbirds

Can someone explain how Misty Van Popta can be the BC Conservative critic for infrastructure and a Township Councilor in Langley? Given the Township’s massive infrastructure needs how can she be both a supplicant and the named critic? @matthewclaxton.bsky.social

Deeply saddened by this loss. Premier Horgan was a good leader and more importantly a solid and kind human being who deserved more time to share with his family after giving so much time to our province He will be missed.

Watching the Global News coverage of the fire at a school in Port Coquitlam and all I can think of is all those teachers’ resources that have been lost. Our family has invested over $20,000 in resources for her class over the last 20 yrs and none is covered by insurance. Such a loss for the teachers

As the spouse of a teacher and an active member of our PAC with kids in elementary and high schools I can’t express how worried I am about teacher mental health these days. The stresses they are under and the extra load they are asked to carry appears way too much. Teacher burnout is inevitable.
