I’m at a loss as to why he even has to go through the asylum process. The man put is life on the line for the US. Citizenship should have been automatically granted. Good luck finding anyone else to help us out during the next war.

It seems that today’s authoritarian regimes no longer need the threat of gulags, as they are now propped up by a subtler form of corruption—when individuals look away and “stay out of politics” simply because their own lives feel tolerable.

I love this for him. Really hope that we can give him more of that — much more.

That social fabric has long been in tatters. The American style fascism and the use of the government to crush dissent and silence or disappear “undesirables” is as American as apple pie. AAs have been the test cases for much of this since Reconstruction. What is done to the least of us …

They are ignoring it in the same way that they have always ignored judicial injustices against black, brown, and marginalized folks. Every injustice inched us closer to today. The vast majority won’t act until it hits home or very close to home and even then the home had better be pristine.

I would not. President Obama and his family served this country well. The world is much coarser and mean spirited than when he became POTUS. They don’t owe us and shouldn’t have to endure anymore. Let him and Michelle get back to just “them”.

No liability and no accountability either. That they are using a well known app designed to delete messages for government business suggests that all manner of unethical and illegal “shenanigans”are going down. That’s by design.

Always amazed that Americans immediately reach for European examples of fascism when the American South was and is the blueprint for America styled fascism. From the end of Reconstruction thru the 60’s — fascism reigned supreme. Want to resist the current iteration of fascism? Study Black History.

That the focus is on “future elections” and not the illegality and inhumanity of what the administration is doing really speaks to the barbarism of it all.

What I find interesting is that most responses here suggests that American fascism is something relatively new. It is not. For African Americans living in the South, they lived under a fascist regime. Even after the civil war to about 1966-67, none of the southern states functioned as a democracy.

Was it ever determined how Tesla sold over 8,000 in just 72 hrs?

History has given us a few clues. During WW II, the US Gov’t forcibly relocated and incarcerated 70K US citizens of Japanese descent (120K total) in interment camps using the same statute as was used to deport the alleged “gangs members”. So the answer is anyone and everyone —That’s who’s next.

Empathy? Isn’t this the same guy who told the world just last week that we were weak because we have … empathy? I have concepts of empathy. How’s that?
