Google got big partly because their home page was so clean. No spam or noise. Even now, despite everything else, they keep it that way. That tells you how effective it is.

I expect it would need an intermediate layer between the LLM and the results, a deterministic query language fed with tons of metadata and anticipated user concerns, since the LLM on its own is too unpredictable to be enough.

Search is for sure one of the most important things any map UI can have. And, with the rise of LLMs, user expectations will evolve to tailored queries in free-form natural language. E.g. "plot a route between Seattle and Aspen with ideal gas/food stops for a 4 day journey on by BMW 1200GS."

I think in almost every case, a banner at the top or bottom, or a snackbar, or a toast, none of which hinder the user from interacting with the content before dismissing or block the middle of the screen are preferable.
