In June of 1918, the Austro-Hungarian 11th Army commenced a bombardment in the middle of the night to weaken the Italian defenses on the Grappa massif. They were planning to follow up with an infantry assault, but things didn't go quite as planned.

The #Isonzo update from last week is now also available on #PlayStation, #Xbox & Microsoft PC! It includes various bug fixes, improvements for visuals and stability and of course the all-important Bipod toggle option!

The Frommer Stop was a Hungarian pistol from 1912 with springs in the cylinder above the barrel.

Wanting to replicate the Villar Perosa, FÉG converted 2 Stops into machine pistols with extended magazines and fitted them together, upside down, on a mount. It wasn't a success.

In 1887, the Vetterli M70 rifles were converted into a more reliable 4-shot rifle thanks to an added box magazine.

By the time #WW1 broke out, these by then antiquated rifles were handed to newly formed regiments that weren't expected to enter combat. They did enter combat.

The Mannlicher–Schönauer M1903 was a rifle produced for the Greek army, featuring a unique rotary spool magazine. The production stopped in favor of other options when #WW1 broke out and a lot of the rifles were taken from Greece's order so the Austrian army could use them.

Rifles grenades were an essential part of the #WW1 arsenal as rifles could lob a grenade way further than a human. It was a lightweight alternative to a dedicated firing system, but shooting a rifle grenade would cause a lot of stress on the weapon, heavily reducing reliability.

Artois – Verdun, 2014

Today in 1914, the French launched an attack on the Germans at Artois in an attempt to break the stalemate. The First Battle of Artois continued until Jan 13th but French territorial gains had to wait until the Second and Third Battles of Artois.
