Most definitely. And there *are* actual film critics like Matt Zoller Seitz (I forgot he’s been a Pulitzer Prize finalist.); he gave the film four out of four stars. I forgot that this review did get me excited to see it.

TRON: Ares movie review & film summary (2025) | Roger Ebert
“TRON: Ares” is spectacularly designed, swiftly paced, thoughtfully written, and directed within an inch of its neon-hued life.

Thanks for this!! Just remembered it just hit Disney+. The meh/middling reviews have had me cautious, and so I thought “Well, at least there’s the visuals and the NIN score…”

So glad to hear it’s a fun flick. ;)

I know it’s Nolan…but I just cannot work up any enthusiasm about this film. 🤷

@dedward.bsky.social Take this with the biggest grain of salt ever, but I just saw this…

“His son has been apprehended. Larry David and Billy Crystal discovered the bodies. Crystal was seen retching and sobbing after the fire department arrived. Horrible horrible news.”

And cue pissy neckbear keyboard warriors, most of him drink from the teat of a filmmaker/purveyor of Granny’s Peach Tea, in 3…2……

So sick of that offal, David.

And the film looks fun as hell, and I love her personification of Kara.

@mrhoward.bsky.social I saw someone else speculate that at some point Dano either turned down an audition and/or role in a Tarantino flick, or had constructive criticism or said something else about Tarantino, or his filmmaking, and it got back to Quentin.

His carp about Dano is just fucking dumb.

@dedward.bsky.social How is it, Addison?

I’ve heard good, bad, and lukewarm, and both that it DOES feel like an Edgar Wright film, and also that it does but with the edges sanded off, or that it doesn’t feel like an Edgar Wright film. 🤷

And yeah, the Arnold version is cheesy, but Dawson ATE. 😏

And somehow there are like 37 seasons of this 911 show and its spinoffs. 🤷 The mind boggles…I know boomers are keeping linear TV on the ropes, but maaaan…when are these types of shows finally going to peter out? I suspect they also do well on streaming services because they work as background noise.

How’s the new one? I’ve heard good things.

@mrhoward.bsky.social I remember my 8th grade class being super excited to ride chartered buses & go to D.C. in April 1995, tour Congress, The White House, etc. & then of course Republicans and fuckhead Newt Gingrich shut the government down because they despised Clinton’s budget. Trip cancelled. 😡

Plus she’s the first Democrat to win in twenty years. 🤞 Let us hope this trend continues in Alaska.

Thanks for this, Frank. Yeah, the reviews have been rather across the board “meh”, or worse, & so I’m glad to hear you liked it.

I mean, it’s Shane fucking Black. C’mon. Of course I’ve been planning to watch this film. That pen 🖊️ of his is always so fucking beautifully quippy and snarky.
October 6, 2025 at 4:27 AM
@mrhoward.bsky.social Holy shit, me too! 😂 It took me a while to get into the rhythm of the film, but once I did, wow. Goddamn, what a masterpiece, &that Greenwood score, amazing as always.Penn’s best work, I’m really thinking so, every facial tic and nuance. Chase Infiniti, wow. Chase scene is 😳
October 3, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Lockjaw’s last scene cements that. The die was cast and I was just waiting for the shoe to drop/his fate to be made - “How will they do it?”.

And the minute he walked in there…

I grew up and lived in Savannah from 1982-2009; born in 1981.To be fair, Savannah should have done more to retain their single A minor league team, as the Savannah Cardinals began in ‘84, became the Savannah Sand Gnats in 1996, & then left in 2016. But the Bananas are ersatz Globetrotters offal.
September 17, 2025 at 5:32 AM
Or a subpar Millie Bobby Brown/Chris Pratt Netflix film cost OVER $300 million fucking dollars. 🤨

The mind boggles, but shouldn’t really. This shit has been ongoing for years and years now, and it’s appalling.

@dedward.bsky.social Both great flicks!

👏 Re: Weapons - what a fucking flick. Zach is 2 for 2. Can see why Jordan Peele was pissed at his management team at Monkeypaw for allowing themselves to be outbid in favor of New Line/WB.
August 22, 2025 at 6:33 AM
@dedward.bsky.social In like an hour and a half….and then after Zach’s flick….(I have free readmission passes..and one more left; still mulling restarting Regal Unlimited soon, though…)
August 21, 2025 at 9:55 PM
@dedward.bsky.social And yeah, let me know what you think once you’ve seen “Weapons”, and I’ll do likewise. :)
August 20, 2025 at 7:27 AM
@dedward.bsky.social Just finished “The Monkey”, and yeah it’s fun as hell and Theo James is in Michael B. Jordan territory with portraying twins lol, and all hail Tatiana Maslany as always. It’s not perfect but it is a blast. Have to be up early for work, so Superman will be tomorrow, alas. Drats.
August 20, 2025 at 7:26 AM
I plan to, thanks!

Finally have six cents to rub together essentially on this recent paycheck so I’m HOPING to see “Weapons” on my day off Thursday or maybe after work Friday - the Regal I frequent hasn’t posted “Honey Don’t!” showtimes, & I want to do a double feature (since I must Uber to & fro)
August 20, 2025 at 5:52 AM
Yeah I’m finishing up episode two rn, onto 3, and was curious what else she’s been in. Been meaning to check “Pistol” out. Glad it’s got your seal of approval, good sir. ;)

After episode 3, tonight I’ve got “The Monkey”, and then “Superman” (thanks btw 😏) on the streaming slate tonight. :)
