Preview of my story for Tokihanatsu: A Mononoke Zine: My dearest Tatsu, I fear I must confirm my previous suspicions. The guards did not bring in a doctor. They invited a medicine seller. Can you imagine? A medicine seller! I caught a glimpse of him the other day. Garish clothes and markings on his face. Heed my words. He’s a charlatan. How can anyone be sure he won’t simply administer poison to us? But perhaps poison would be more merciful. More of my neighbors have been falling ill. This medicine seller may be no more than a charlatan, but if there is a chance that he can help—no matter how small—we must take it. I apologize. My mood has been dark these past few days. This rain simply will not end. My execution has been delayed again. Our cells continue to flood. Even my cell has its own perpetual puddle. Ah! You must be wondering why I remain in a leaky cell when I bragged so much about my ally and his gifts. Alas, those days have come to an end.

A preview of my story for Scarlet Letter: A One Piece Anthology Zine. Vivi stormed over and dug into the trunk, pulling every dress, veil, skirt, and blouse out and dumping it onto the floor. When the spill of clashing fabrics was in sufficient disarray, she whirled. “What are you doing?” Nami raised an eyebrow. “I think that’s pretty obvious, don’t you think?” She placed the folded veil into the now-empty trunk, acting as if she hadn’t just witnessed her mistress throwing a tantrum. “I guess the banquet didn’t go well?” Vivi laughed. Or maybe it was sob. “No, it went well. Too well. No one noticed anything was wrong!”

Contributor preview of my story for Unseen Poison: an Apothecary Diaries zine: When Jinshi arrived at the clinic, a couple soldiers were waiting while Guen filled their orders. He eyed them carefully. No flushed cheeks. No reddened noses. No dim, unfocused eyes. Relief eased through him. Not the winter illness bringing them here, then. Probably not another similar ailment either. Jinshi wanted Maomao looked at but not at the risk of getting sick themselves. One of the soldiers noticed him standing in the doorway and started. Jinshi put on his unrelentingly serene mask. Hurry up and leave, he willed them silently. The soldier swallowed and placed a hand on his companion’s shoulder. He turned and caught sight of Jinshi. They both took him in, then the limp woman he held in his arms. Two mouths slowly dropped open. Irritation flared. That wasn’t the reaction Jinshi wanted.

An excerpt from "Neverending Blue" by blackmagie, a fanfiction featured in Thousand Year Memories, a Sousou no Frieren Fanzine: Amused by the quiet mage’s obvious excitement, Himmel followed them into a small room. Based on the book-lined shelves, it was a library. And near the window, putting a thick tome back in place, stood a petite woman with white hair styled into two loose braids. That was all he could register before she turned at the siblings’ approach. The ground tilted beneath Himmel’s feet—No, that wasn’t right. The floor hadn’t moved. It remained level, just as he remained upright. He wasn’t falling. He was just disoriented. But why— Bright green eyes took him in. Knowing eyes. Mysterious eyes. Eyes that were set in a face that was anything but old.
