Don’t let music turn into an emotional prompt or actual human, performing artists become props.

This business is hard enough as it is, and now that we’ve gone from having to deal with fake listeners to having to deal with fake, corporate sponsored artists as well, the stakes are higher than ever.

I’m not gonna sit here and bash the lady behind this music, or this industry person who said the bullshit word vomit that I just quoted.

My focus is on you.

We stood on stages, we shot videos, we showed up.

Who changed my life, impacted my heart and mind and gave me the courage to believe in me. They blessed my spirit. They are more than just a loss, even if sometimes we convince ourselves the voids they left behind can never be filled.

At least until we remember.

It’s a whole new world out here and I often find myself wondering what they would have made of this life or thought of this world and the lives we are all living.

I used to get down about it but then one day I realized this:

I’ve got so many people on the other side who are helping me keep going.

The experiences we’ve been able to feel and share with each other. The lives we have built stand because of the people who helped us find and secure our foundation.

The best ones helped us find ourselves.

All the divisions, devices, and distractions.

I have always believed that the only reason we forget is so that we may remember. That by remembering we are reminded of how fortunate we are to have the people we have and have had in our lives.
