All magnolia flowers are safe eating, but the flavor varies a lot from species to species and tree to tree! They’re STRONG, but I’d give a petal a smol nibble and see how you feel about the flavor, and if you like it, collect some!! 🩷

Eliza doesn’t deal in purely native species agroforestry, and I do, and that’s ok!
I wish asking the general public to participate in citizen breeding was realistic! But until then they’re flimsy street trees that smell real bad and in my neck of the woods, they often colonize spaces they shouldn’t!

I love Eliza (we’re mutuals) but I do disagree on this particular tree! justifying a net negative to our local native flora because it acclimated well and originally had promise to help the pear industry (which isn’t why any bradford street trees were planted) doesn’t make sense from my world view
