Lmao I mean, all of my fics are very self-indulgent. I am the person with the vampire AU. But sometimes you just have to no-stakes lazily summarize a trash idea after a long day, make everyone a little ooc, and take away pieces of Jr. (Idk why my outlines are like this, but for your amusement.)
Text transcript: Gaignun regrets bringing it up and gently cups Junior's cheek, brushing his thumb along it. Junior leans into his touch, his eye growing heavy. Gaignun wonders if he should tell Junior to forget everything. He could make Junior forget. Tell everyone, including Junior, that he seemed to have been drugged or unconscious for all of it and had no memories of what happened. Would that be better? Did Junior actually gain anything from all that agony? Junior murmurs that Albedo did this to him too, and Gaignun freezes. He's not happy to hear it when so much of this feels like it was Albedo's fault. Junior still leans contentedly into Gaignun's touch as his eye falls shut. "Maybe it was a dream but… He said he would get me put back together. It was strange… I thought he would have been happy. Maybe he's still in there somewhere." Continued: Gaignun asks Junior to look at him, and Junior manages to drag an exhausted blue eye back open. Gaignun brushes Junior's bangs back and kisses his forehead. "I love you more than there are stars," Gaignun says as he lets his words sink into a hypnotic tone. He presses their foreheads together. "Rubedo, you're going to forget everything that happened from the time you went onto that empty distressed vessel until you next wake up." Despite the years of trying to shake it, Junior unconsciously still responds better to his old name. Junior seems to realize what's happening but can't do anything to stop it. Gaignun wonders why he'd ever want to. Junior asks why Gaignun would do this and then worriedly if Gaignun has done it before. Gaignun says he would never take away anything important, and Junior will be happier this way without those memories of what happened. Continued: Gaignun taps a confirmation onto the monitor to give Junior his next dose of medication, and Junior is quick to fade. He struggles to say one last thing before he passes out. "But you have to… won't you… say… say you love me…m'awake." Gaignun thinks he understands. When Junior wakes again, he's very groggy and also very anxious to find himself so badly injured. He keeps mumbling about how he doesn't remember what happened, which is good, but Gaignun is starting to see the downsides. Taking his brother in his arms, Gaignun gently reassures Junior that everything is going to be alright. "I'll get you put back together. Don't worry, Junior. I love you."
