Gummy freeze dried candy is the worstof the freeze dried candies. And it does not do well at supermarkets or anywhere it is shipped. It just doesn't stand up well and powdered or shrinks in these bags. Your best bet is NOT gummies and buy from a local vendor, not a supermarket for better quality.

Mushrooms freeze dry beautifully, but likely you can find freeze dried mushrooms at your local farmers market or online marketplace. Mushrooms do dehydrate well though, so that may be a much cheaper route to go. :)

We agree that it is not worth getting a freeze dryer unless you grow a lot of your own food and want to preserve it. It has a steep learning curve, that is like baking, with adjustments for humidity, temperature, etc. Foods need to be tested and packaged properly. It is not for the casual user.

Depends on the type of candy...Salt water taffy is like a merangue with a melty finish, Nerd Clusters are like soft crunchy cotton candy, and werthers melt. Skittles are hard and crunchy, but I prefer Hi Chews. And the gummies, with the exception of Nerd Clusters, are my least favorite.

I was one of the only people who didn't think this was a good idea on a FB Freeze dried candy makers group. Seriously, 70K users and only about 5 of us objected to people pushing religion on their customers. Freeze dried candy shouldn't be a forum for proselytizing.

That's a lot of work. We do regular tomatoes, but I also do big batches of enchalada sauce, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes on a 2 year rotation. By the second year, I have run out and am ready to do another round.
