I don't think diverging the rules at the pro and amateur levels so fundamentally is good for the long term health of the game, especially if U Sports decides to ignore the new rules and suddenly multiple pro teams are suddenly without a legal stadium

Addendum: in places (like Toronto) where football already has little purchase in youth culture, this field change is going to do the opposite of "grow the game." It will snuff it out.

I know at my high school that I went to in Toronto 10 years ago, if we had to pay to uproot and move the goal posts we probably would've lost the team entirely. Canada isn't the US and Toronto is not football country, our team had to fight for the money we had. (2/2)

that makes our game more like the American one, even superficially. I don't think the league should cater to Canadians who shit on the CFL for not being like the NFL. Those people are a lost cause.

- Rouge only counting if it lands inbounds I am fine with, as it keeps the single point alive and does not impact stuff like punts back and forth into and out of the endzone to avoid a single

Some of these changes I think are for the best in the vacuum, but I am super wary of anything (cont.)

Rouge is safe even if reduced...

"when Brown is healthy and on the field, Ottawa will be competitive in every game."

"when" is the important word here. Poor pass protection and Brown's own recklessness are going to kill this season if something doesn't change very quickly
