I have a tremendous amount of purslane growing on my stone patio.

Please take some.

The small leaves are great raw in salads; the larger ones are fantastic sautéed with garlic.

It’s lemony, but not as acidic as rhubarb. The leaves are succulent and can thicken soups.

DM if you’d like some.

Now let’s get a closer look at the new Tuxedo portion of Winnipeg West.

As you can see, it was a mixed political bag in 2021.

Many of these voters went NDP in the 2024 provincial Tuxedo byelection.

For Morantz to win again, he may need his home neighbourhood to vote a little bluer.

Here’s how the 2021 results look superimposed over the new riding boundaries.

In 2021, Morantz’s margin of victory over Eyolfson was only 460 votes.

You can see where the Liberals clawed back some city polls.

In 2019, Conservative Marty Morantz won the seat by ~2,500 votes. He won enough city polls to win.

In 2015, the year the Trudeau Liberals snatched power away from the Harper Conservatives, Liberal Doug Eyolfson swept the densely populated city portion of the riding and won the seat.

For those of you who didn’t click through, here’s what Winnipeg West looks like.
