It's similar in the US and the new emphasis is on "practical skills" and fewer subjects considered more elitist - like language learning.

It's hard to keep up with this from a distance but in the UK seems weird that people wouldn't want to learn the language(s) of their "neighbors." don't people in the UK want to work or travel on the continent of Europe?
