Perhaps your contention is that it was I who failed to interpret Eliza 7777777’s remark generously? I’m very sorry if this was, indeed, a misinterpretation on my part.

Oh, it’s definitely the burn it down choice. But that’s what people tend to do when they lose all hope. 😞

Sorry, I thought you were interested in recent polls regarding views on trans rights. Those are the ones I could easily find via google.

Most republicans are to the right of what? All democrats? The average democrat? Most democrats? On what? Trans rights in general? Some trans rights in particular? Doesn’t seem very precise to me. But I was really just trying to encourage a little bit of generosity of interpretation.

And while it’s not necessarily my view, I can certainly see how some—particularly those with the least privilege—might see withholding their support as a viable strategy. (4/4)

But I also completely understand the frustration with the relatively low level of support demonstrated by many democrats for many trans-related issues. (3/4)

The language isn’t very precise, but I didn’t think it was so far-fetched to imagine someone using such statements to refer to the kind of polling data I mentioned. (2/4)

I think I’m missing something here. I was responding to the statement, “It’s insane to argue “most Republicans” are to the right of Democrats on trans rights.” (1/4)

Having fairer voting regulations would certainly be a step in the right direction, but one should still keep in mind the facets of trans rights that don’t have Democratic majority support (especially if current trends continue).

Of course, none of them showed majority Republican support for trans rights. Sadly, they also showed majority Democratic rejection for some facets of trans rights, too (albeit still not nearly to the extent of Republicans). That’s my impression, anyhow. 😞

It’s probably best to stick to the 3 or 4 fairly large-scale polls that were completed in the last year, since support for trans rights seems to be on the decline. 😞
January 4, 2026 at 5:31 PM
Perhaps it was simply meant to be a reference to recent (say, over the last year or so) polling showing the disparity in percentages of democrats and republicans supporting various facets of trans rights? (Of course, the relevance of such data to this topic is another issue altogether.)

I can’t help but wonder if they’ll use this as evidence that women shouldn’t be eligible for the Nobel Prize. 🤦

If you’re genuinely interested in engaging with others, perhaps—in addition to presenting your computation that runs counter to their preconceived notions—you might consider acknowledging both its shortcomings and related observations that support their intuitions.

While this seems like a nice enough sentiment on its face, I can’t help but wonder if adopting language predominantly used by transphobes (e.g., “transgenderism”) is part of the problem.
