For too long I pronounced 'misled' as [mizld], i.e. past tense of 'mizzle'. I kind of prefer it to mis-led, actually.

In Australian languages, it gets worse: most of them have two 'rhotics', /ɻ/ and /r/, and they behave quite differently in terms of phonotactics and alternations. /ɻ/ behaves like the other semivowels, /j/ and /w/, and can alternate with /j/, /r/ behaves like the other liquids to some extent

I have a major problem with the term 'rhotic' though, for exactly the reasons you point out: that it encompasses sounds of many different manners and places of articulation including zero
