So what if the arcane knew that this timeline was off track and it would cause the undoing to not happen. So it starts acting wonky (Corrupting the firelight tree and gemstone mesh).

We also see in this timeline that Viktor despite that lapse of desperation in the first season understands how dangerous the hexcore is after it disintegrated Sky and is not willing to put humanity at risk for the sake of his own survival. He makes Jayce promise to destroy it and is disappointed —

So as far as I know, the void has a hunger for the undoing of the universe and is waiting for that moment. So in the current timeline we are in Jayce has shown that despite knowing the possible dangers of the hexcore, he was willing to let it exist if it meant saving Viktor.
