I think most people just didn’t play FF12 or they all think the game is about Vaan. I really feel like the presence of Vaan takes away a lot from the real stars of the show; Ashe and Basch. I think they are both excellent protagonists.

Ambition, risk taking, ingenuity, are all things that were common place when the game industry was an emerging market. Most big devs take safe bets while many indies are derivative of older work. That’s my armchair assessment 😅

I feel the same way. And it goes beyond nostalgia because I’ve had first plays of the PS1 era that have managed to hook me a number of times more often than newer stuff does
