Puckered vaguely burned and healed scar tissue. No gaping hole where he can see and feel his insides, no dripping boiling drops of lava still clinging to his form. Just thin scar tissue thinner than his skin should be. He presses down gently as though testing the (redacted in screenshot by Rosie) Of his skin like a trampoline. It gives way, far far more than it should. He almost swears he can feel the ridges of his spine through the sunken pit and thin, thin skin before he snatches his hand back. He's whole. Not how he was, or how he should be but he is in one piece again. He needs to get off this island. A small part of him wondered if he should cover his grave, no sense in keeping a monument to a man seemingly no longer dead. But he saw the bouquets of flowers, fresh and bright. He resigned himself to grabbing his hat, necklace and knife. He's sure the news of his revival will reach the Whitebeard pirates

I want to stick VERY close to their og thread versus how others interpreted it. Maximizing the angst versus the romance but it will still happen. I see it as a long fic

Trying to help his brain form a more cohesive thought than just a single color but as he opened them again the same thought jumped out to him. Black. His hand, just slightly curled around Zoro’s shoulder, shook. Black, hard crusts of scabbing and somehow edges of shiny jumped out to him. Zoro’s unmarred back was an (Redacted in screenshot by Rosie). Sanji had seen his back, guarded it, practically memorized over time all its hard planes and defined muscles as familiar to him as anything. Flawless. Even Sanji couldn’t ignore how accurate of a word, usually reserved for his beautiful Nami and Robin, fit Zoro. He tried not to let the mangled sight in front of him overwrite what he knew Zoro’s back had looked like, always looked like even ten minutes ago. Move. He had to move. Even if Zoro with his stupid high pain tolerance was still fighting unconsciousness, there’s no way he was strong enough to move off of Sanji. He pulled his hand away, forcing it to clench against the tremor slowly threatening to overtake him. As he wheezed out a few quick breaths, too uneven to truly steady him he made the mistake of looking closer at his fist. Even clenched, he would have to be blind to not see the thick smears of red and broken crusts of black clinging to his skin. His thoughts screamed to a stop
