There are people who've been sick for 2, 3, 4+ years now & still aren’t believed by the people closest to them.

Long COVID is real. Gaslighting is real. Support the people in your life trying to stay safe. You don’t need to experience it to care

🧵1/ BIG NEWS!! CDC just dropped a landmark report — the first US data on RSV hospitalizations after rollout of the maternal vaccine and infant antibody. What happened? Hospitalizations in babies under 3 months fell nearly 50% vs pre-pandemic years. Quietly, radically effective.

Turns out being employed by a cdc funded program... stressful. We don't know anything about funding future. Still doing the work. But looming instability. 🫠
Finding flowers with potato is my stability lately.

Here's an updated list of programs cut by Trump. We'll post a web link in a reply.

Email altcdc1@pm.me for an accessible PDF or XLSX.

Programs in bold were eliminated or rendered non-functional.

Infrastructure cuts will hinder agencies from delivering basic services—Americans will die.

Under Biden, many grants included scoring criteria for all of these now excluded terms—for example, more points for community engagement, collaboration, student research, and issues related to marginalized populations. If you wrote the proposal to meet the specific criteria, you are now cancelled.
Word cloud of the titles of the over 500 NSF grants canceled, as documented in grant-watch.us/nsf-data.html . The two most common words (research, collaborative) excluded. The word cloud tells the whole story. 🧪#AcademicSky

Here is a list of critical federal health programs for families that they want to cut.

Without these programs families will have fewer resources to care for loved ones, young and old. Those on the edge will fall into poverty.

In & Out Burger was the first fast food chain to force employees to get a doctors note to be able to mask.

Panda Express followed & now we’re hearing that Starbucks may enact a similar rule.

If you stopped masking, you made this easier. We need visibility. We need to normalize masks.

Among cuts at HHS: most of the workers at NIOSH, incl Pittsburgh national lab that approves and ensures continued quality of respirators - N95s + breathing devices for firefighters, miners, people working w chemicals, construction dust. “Nothing is happening to make sure they continue to be safe”
On Elon Musk and RFKjr's devastation of NIOSH:

Feeling nervous about my job. It's the first time I've had a job i am good at and is good for my well being.
And we're having to "temporarily remove" our values etc for grant renewal reviews. Basically hide the work we do to keep getting money. It feels wrong and like it won't be enough for them
