Accusing me of being divisive by bringing up a clause in the constitution that should be enforced is just nonsense. BTW, there was already a law on the books that said an insurrection cannot hold elected office in this country, nor can its supporters. It is called 18 U.S. Code § 2383,

To assume democrats will win elections because of Trump's unpopularity is a stretch. We should be playing hardball and we are not.

State legislatures are the ones trying to suppress the vote by making it more difficult for democratic leaning groups to vote. They are also challenging whole groups of voters through state voting boards in states like N. C. and Georgia. .

Maybe you should spend time researching what the supreme court actually ruled on, rather than misinforming readers on what you thought the ruling meant. When republicans were in the minority, they used every tool in the book to stop the democratic agenda. Democrats are playing softball with R's.

The clemency vote will fail. Those members listed in the clemency bill must be removed from office per the constitution. Democrats regain the majority. And this all happens at the federal level. States have nothing to with this. But they do have to have new elections, which will disrupt state

The court said Congress has to enforce section 3 of the 14th amendment. Democrats introducing legislation granting clemency to Trump knee benders enforces section 3. The clemency legislation must pass by 2/3 vote in both house and Senate to be granted. Republicans don't have the votes to pass.

So if a clemency bill is introduced by a member of Congress that is to be voted on by Congress, that somehow doesn't pass supreme Court muster?

That was about Trump being allowed to be on the ballot. This is about challenging republican house and Senate eligibility to hold office if they aid an Insurrectionist. If republicans bend the knee for Trump, that is aiding an insurrectionist.

Plus it would disrupt republican state houses all across the country, and force them to rethink their voter suppression activity. The most important thing of all is that it would neuter Trump's control of Congress and allow it to do oversight again.

Clemency granting bill. Republicans don't have the numbers to stop it, and its failure means democrats regain the majority temporarily, plus the governor's have to call special elections to replace the removed reps, and it would disrupt gerrymandering efforts. Simple thing to try.
