It's voter suppression. It disproportionately targets women and members of the armed forces serving abroad and people who've never had a passport.
Voting by non citizens is already illegal. It is also vanishingly rare.
This bill is an unnecessary stunt.
It is also a damaging scheme to sow mistrust in our elections and suspicion of foreigners.
