I read them as a 40 something adult after watching The Black Cauldron. They are fantastic. (The movie is a terrible narrative mess but the visuals are amazing.)

I really enjoyed it. I liked the critique of privilege. I liked mingling technology with magic. I thought the characters were well rounded, emotionally appropriate, and grounded in a reality we don’t see much in on screen superheroes. It was sweet, funny, heartbreaking, and triumphant.
