Today, I was honored to join American Legion Post 30 and American Legion Post 512 as we thank America’s veterans for their military service and celebrate the vibrant contributions they continue to make in communities right here as well as across our country.

That is why I am continuing to fight for Georgians and help protect affordable healthcare for millions of Americans.

Take it from the doctors and patient advocates who serve our community. They are letting us know what is at risk if Congress fails to prevent the imminent skyrocketing of healthcare premiums. People’s lives are at risk. Our hospitals and nursing homes are at risk.

Federal workers are vital, from the VA and our military installations to our city and county offices helping support housing, agriculture, food safety, and more!

In the coming days, Georgians will be slammed with skyrocketing healthcare insurance premiums. Congress needs to act now to help save affordable healthcare for millions of Georgians.

Instead of working with Democrats to fix this, Congressional Republican leaders are holding the federal government hostage in a shutdown and refusing to end this ongoing healthcare crisis.

That is forcing many hospitals and nursing homes to eliminate services or close outright across the country. It means millions of families will soon lose healthcare and the ones that still have it will likely have to travel farther to get it.

After firing about half of the Department of Education’s workforce earlier this year, President Trump is laying off even more staff under the cover of the government shutdown. This makes it increasingly difficult to enforce special education and civil rights laws that serve and protect our children.

(2/2) A glimmer of hope now exists that all hostages taken will be released & an end to this devastating war will be negotiated. America stands ready to help both the Israelis & Palestinians build a future together based on shared values of security, economic opportunity, freedom, & mutual respect.

Unfortunately, Albany State U & other HBCUs were once again targeted with violent threats this month. I will work with my colleagues to ensure these institutions have the resources they need to keep teachers, students, & their communities safe.
