also, I'd appreciate if you kept the tone civil as I'm not attacking you and just trying to have a valuable conversation about an issue that affects a lot of people, and not only in the US

and when we are talking about huge percentages of people that are unable to access housing due to a policy, that's something that needs to be addressed. more builds help, but it can't be the only solution if the new constructions only serve investors and "the market", not regular people.

I agree that blanket statements are not a catch-all. But there're assets in a normal economy that do not increase in value, and we accept that because the benefit they bring are worth the devaluing -- like cars! Still, the *general* increase in house values brings much more problems than solutions+

(+) housing policies but from health support and universal income, for instance. I'm glad you had a good outcome from your housing investment, but many other people did not, and why is your security and comfort more important than theirs?

can you also see that, even though in your specific situation this kind of thinking was beneficial, it also brings a lot of problems to a lot of people in situations like and unlike yours? anedoctal evidence should not drive policies, and the solution to your problem should not come from (+)
