It's still a skill I wish I had in my repertoire, but the learning curve is so steep that I've kind of given up. For me it's been better to focus on lotion and sunscreen. Not sure across different generations, and it might just be my friends, but everyday makeup isn't actually too common among us

I always thought I would figure it out for the big occasions in my life (graduations, bdays, vacations) but the most I've managed is lipgloss and mascara, or v rarely, eyeliner. The one time a friend put a full beat on me, it looked textured and odd, plus was a pain to get off.

Bonus: Most of y'all know these ones but just in case: CANVA to make aesthetics, and PINTEREST to find them (not just to grab some photos for but to create aesthetic boards for different parts of your book - setting, characters, quotes, etc.)

8. Drafting & Revising: SCRIVNER
literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/do...

This is the only program on the list that has a cost - a one time time $50 fee, but it has a 30-day free trial. It's brilliant, esp for revising. Does have a bit of a learning curve tho

7. Drafting: BLANK PAGE
blank.page

I hate distractions when I write so I need my screen as clear as possible. I don't use it often now that I draft on scrivner which has a similar function! (Also, this doesn't autosave)

5. Coming up with terms relevant to your story: REVERSE DICTIONARY
reversedictionary.org

Esp helpful if you're writing a time period or genre you don't often, because it can be difficult to get into the style if you're not used to it

I use this during revision to enliven characters and descriptions. There are only so many times you can say "warm brown eyes"
