As a dev, NOTHING is better than having a strong QA team close by. They can make a small weak team look like an army of geniuses by the time the product is released.

I don't think anybody would care if the games were solid.

The problem is that there's no "bottom line" for pokemon games. No consistent option to carry your old mons into a new game. Middling technical quality for what should be a flagship franchise. No soul, no risk. Just new embiggify mechanics.
