I just finished this one, too. Really enjoyed the fmc. Love the characters and the world building of this series!

So many good books for me in 2024, but one that sticks with me is Tara Westover's Educated. The author's determination to overcome obstacles was inspiring. A heartbreaking book in ways but also empowering.

Audiobooks are amazing. I have a pretty long commute and audiobooks save me! I don't even mind the drive because I get to be in a story :)

Thanks! Such a sweet reply 😊

Agree! I love stories about different god systems (and god relationships with people/worshippers), and this one is so very unique and that's what made me grab it. And the characters kept me around. I'm so glad you liked it! I haven't come across many people who have read it!

I'm not sure if I had the words to convey how much my dog(s) mean to me until I read this book. I don't regret it at all. But still tearing up now! It is a powerful one! *Please excuse me while I hug my dog*

Honestly, I loved Lily and the Octopus. I just think it is one of those books that you have to be careful on when you read. I read it when I had a young vivacious dog, and then I reread the poignent passages when we knew time was getting close for us to say goodbye.

Yes! The complex character building was most excellent in this one. I hope you enjoy the sequel! The third (and final, I think?) comes out this year, and I'm so looking forward to seeing how the author wraps up this story :)

Not sure if "broke" is the best way to describe it. But this one had me with all the feelings. Don't read if you have an old dog.

I feel ya. Read this about 16 years ago. Can still feel the heartache.

GAH! So good. So spooky. If you end up liking this one, the T. Kingfisher book What Moves the Dead, is similar but different and a delightfully quick read.

Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy is a cli-fi kinda book that is subtle in its dystopia. Same for Into the Forest by Jean Hegland, and that one is not so much climate as pandemic.

My neighbors have said there's a fox that crosses my front yard almost nightly, but I've missed seeing the little rascal so far. Love sharing the home habitat with them and other native wildlife ❤️

Personally, I really appreciate trigger warnings. There are just a couple of topics that I'm sensitive to that can ruin a book experience for me. I've gotten better about checking storygraph, but I really like when authors give a heads up, even if very vague. Thanks for asking!

took me a bit to get into this one, but once I did I could not put it down. Hope you like it, too!

Oh yes, I've used Thriftbooks too and have had great experiences! Hope it goes well for you too!

It's interesting, I've found that I burn out on books if I don't switch up the genre, style, and delivery system. I love getting an audiobook to go along with the physical or e-version. Whatever way for you to consume the stories you love is the best way for you!

The Ten Thousand Doors of January, and really enjoying it!

YES! Loved Trevor Noah's book.

And, of course, my library is my best friend, too :) hope this helps!

And, beware, the prices are quite different than amazon. For me, I buy from BookShop as my budget allows and other times I'll purchase from other readers on Pangobooks.com.
