Birder in Central Texas, fabric designer, language person. She/her.
My 2025 Bird Stats:

51 lifers
353 species seen
239 county birds

Also completed my local Audubon’s master birder program, led my first walk, and went on my first CBC.

Favorite lifer had to be the Double-striped Thick-knee, a one-day wonder 2nd ABA record 2.5 hours from my house!

People are selling so-called high-rise pants but you can see the model’s belly button. No more lies!

So sad to hear about Victor Emanuel’s passing. I’ve only been birding for two years but was lucky enough to see him out in the field several times. He is an absolute legend and human treasure. I highly recommend his memoir, One More Warbler.

All of the birders who have traveled to and enjoyed Colombia. among other places, over the last decade or so should know that USAID is the entity that helped fund much of the ecotourism and conservation infrastructure that we get to enjoy there.

The birding trails. The lodges. The land. All of it.
USAID is a massive funder of global biodiversity conservation

Shutting it down will accelerate the extinction of endangered species and the collapse of our life support systems

Lifers are fewer and farther between these days but I got four yesterday! Hermit Thrush, Horned Lark, Lapland Longspur, Barred Owl.
