I had the measles in the 4th grade in Alaska before the vaccine was distributed. It was uncomfortable, to say the least, but I got to stay out of school for over a week and I still live to tell about it. Call me lucky, maybe. Fortunately, there's a vaccine to avoid uncomfortable but not school.

Look at the other side:
It would be hard to find a grunt that would understand some of the technological know-how to fix some of this equipment. If a grunt tried and screwed up, why would the contractor fix it? More money, more money, more money.
It's not as easy as changing flashlight batteries.

My guess is that he has senile purpura, common in folks over 50. It's caused by thinning of skin and sun damage. In his case, it may be from playing too much golf.

I have very little pity for farmers, especially the corporate farmers. Many, and even most farmers these days, think they can get rich in that industry. I pity the few that are the REAL farmers.
