- the og games were made in an era where every blessed key on your keyboard was assigned a unique function. that could be annoying, but imo it's not as annoying as one key having multiple different context-specific functions. the number of times that i tried to swoop and climbed a box instead...

- naming a villain "thief-taker general" and having the cops constantly talk about how they're gonna hang every thief in the city is stupid. it's like they expect the player to go heyyyyyy but I'M a thief :(
why are these big meanies so anti-thief, it's not fair and i didn't even do anything :(((

- the positional audio in the original games was SO cool, and i was disappointed that sound barely mattered here. i often couldn't hear enemy footsteps over the ambience or music, and leaning against doors was gone. i also never had to care about surfaces unless there was broken glass on the floor

- what the fuck was up with orion's boat and where was he even going
- the context-limited leaning and jumping were maddening. so much player agency was stripped away just in the movement mechanics, and when you WERE allowed to jump it felt like garrett's feet were made of lead
