Just 45 minutes north of Detroit there are rafts of thousands of Long-tailed Ducks wintering along the open water of the St. Clair River between the US and Canada.

Close encounter with a little murder bird! This Loggerhead Shrike landed right in front of me with eye on its prey. It struck out, but I scored a cool experience. #Birds

Did some urban birding this morning along Detroit’s River Walk. Crazy how Canada is actually south of Detroit here. Logged Lincoln’s, Swamp, Tree and Song sparrows, two Peregrine Falcons, and six Ring-Necked Pheasants.
