I'm super excited to share that I am part of the October lineup for Mary Jo Pehl's Garage for the Performing Arts on October 18 at 6 pm talking about why moose are the worst.

Tickets are $5 and you must email Mary Jo to reserve a spot. mjopehl@gmail.com

Thanks, Hallmark Channel, I hate it. Of course it’s a guy introducing a woman to birding 🙄 Also he wants to be a bird guide and he’s using porro prism binos?? he doesn’t have a real neck strap? Or even a harness for that matter? Where the hell is his spotting scope?

That face your dog makes when you say, “Babe, this is us!” And start singing along to Die with a Smile at them. #HuskySideEye

I’ll be on with @angeladavismpr.bsky.social on Thursday answering your bird questions at 9 am on MPR

Came home to find my screen ripped, glasses and cups on the floor, lamps unplugged, remotes everywhere and my tv on. I suspect a squirrel was on my deck and a merry chase ensued. Party is the sword in the darkness, the watcher on the deck. She is the shield that guards the realms of Shaz.

Looks like I will be zooming into the Twin Cities Fox station at 3:30 PM to talk about turkeys and cobra chickens. Also photo of Party for tax.

And now my retired sled dog has started to redecorate my place.

Consider considering the number of people that I have told on dating apps that I won’t pee on them, I’m remarkably OK with a sled dog just staring at me while I peed for the rest of my life.

She’s in a completely new space. She doesn’t know yet that she will never go back to Alaska. She’s happy but she’s uncertain. And having a constant paw on me right now is bringing her comfort. Oh my heart.

A big thanks to Denali Kennels for making this happen, the Denali wolf biologist for escorting her down, Gayle for documenting the event, Josh for being my driver. Party Pants is now in my home, sleeping against me on the couch. Lost a government job. Gained a government dog. Good trade.

In roughly five hours I’ll be reunited with this girl and Party and I will be two middle-aged ladies living our best lives.

Ok who told Chuck and Don’s that I’m about to adopt a retired sled dog named Party? 🎉. 😂

Guy came to the Swarovski booth and said, “My friend Ken sent me a screenshot of a social media post and my wife and I had to look up the phrase ‘Internet Zaddy.’”

Meet David from Blue Aster Studio who has a very good sense of humor and gets approached all the time about being Pedro Pascal.

Y’all, I think the Internet Zaddy might be at the Indiana Dunes Bird Fest

The dawn chorus this morning included some white-throated sparrows. Love it when they pass through.

Migration was on fire last night. Radar stations can detect that millions of birds are in the air, but can’t form anything so it shows up as blue circles in their field.

Birds incoming this morning.

A little bit of movement on radar this morning. I suspect mostly waterfowl.

I have had one lone male red-winged blackbird on my wetland the last week. Today he actually started singing. I wanted to high five him for being the first one back and singing. Also, first of year killdeer and sandhill cranes flew over.

It’s like someone on tv mentioned there are owls at the airport.
