Same as I ever was.
Tea, talking. You know. Now even more easily distracted.
I’ve got half-grown kids, cats and a garden I pretend is ‘wild’. Doing a bit of headteaching now.
Thank you! Very proud 😊

I think you’ll love it. The drive from the Danube delta (on Ukraine border…) was long but so much to see. Mountains are excellent spooky. Bran castle far too packed with tourists but the town was fun.

Oh wow, I would have loved that trip though!
We took the train from Bucharest to Sophia. Very 1970s British Rail experience, great scenery.
You could try out Romanian Catholicism for variety! It’s the relics and icons kind.

Also lots of communist/brutalist architecture and rust belt feel alongside wide pastoral spaces AND mountains.
It’s a whole lot. I loved it.

No faded glamour, but very much a trip back in time. Sometimes in a very good way- I’ve never seen so many birds as in the Danube delta. Skies full!
Had an 80s feel in places. Some places with real poverty. Hard to see Ceaucescu’s grim extravagance- it feels so modern and out of place.

I knew you’d like it!! It was my Bucharest ‘must see’. It’s small but excellent. Especially the communist kitsch.
This mural was outside

Ooh. There’s elements. The mountains in Transylvania have a brooding quality. We accidentally saw a bear.
Bucharest has the kitsch museum which is great.

And probably just as well I didn’t have to get up and make a speech. I can’t be trusted with public speaking
