Republicans are used to abusing power and getting away with it. Democrats must stop being passive. Biden lawfully exercised the pardon power to thwart the abuse of power used against his son for years. Good for him. More of that.

Reimagining Politics and Field of Dreams

I am going to try this again threading. Democrats win by inches, meaning that when we win we don’t win with enough votes in Congress to do much (see Joe Lieberman, Kirsten Sinema and Joe Mansion). Republicans win with full control of the government.

This would be long hard work and take time and patience but a wise woman once said “We like hard work. Smarter people than I would have to figure out the details but we have a lot of smart people with a lot of expertise. If you like the idea repost. If you don’t tell me why.

Smarter people than me would have to figure out the details. Participation would make you a member of the Democratic Party, you could still vote how you wanted of course, but the benefits would be tangible and possibly life changing. No legislation required.

Membership would entitle participants to take part in the cooperatives. I am imagining housing and food coops, medical clinics, insurance pools, social organizations, childcare coops. All could be aided by membership volunteers. Existing orgs who already do this work could join.

These could be paid for by the fundraising (more than a billion dollars spent on ads in the last election) a membership fee based on income and volunteer involvement.

I am interested in reaction to this idea. So please respond pro or con. To create a multicultural democracy we need to give people skin in the game. The Democrats and Labor should be creating a network of nonprofit coops.
