Kunbarrasaurus was a small, armored ankylosaur from Australia’s Early Cretaceous. Proof that size isn’t everything when you’ve got natural shields! 🦕 A great dino for sparking creative science learning.

Dimorphodon had two types of teeth, tiny wings, and a comically big head. This Jurassic pterosaur wasn’t a dinosaur—but it was definitely weird. I illustrated it for my Visual Paleontology class (ages 11–15).

Draw and learn about axolotls with me! These critically endangered salamanders are found only in Mexico City (disregarding a huge inbred captive population). This project was completed as part of my Visual Zoology classes for learners 11-15 on Outschool 🦎

Meet the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle—the smallest and most endangered sea turtle in the world! With its heart-shaped shell and rare arribada mass nesting events, this species is unique. Found in the Gulf of Mexico, Kemp’s ridleys face major threats from bycatch, habitat loss, and climate change.

Meet Kryptops palaios, an early abelisaurid from the Cretaceous of Niger! With a heavily textured skull likely covered in keratin, this dinosaur earned the name ‘covered face.’ But was it a fierce predator or a scavenger? 🤔🦖 #paleontology #dinosaurs #paleoart #dinosaurart #dinosaurfacts

Basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus) are the second-largest fish, reaching 12m (40ft). Despite their size, they’re harmless filter feeders, straining plankton with specialized gill rakers. They filter 1,800 tons of water per hour but are now endangered due to past overfishing. Conservation is key!

🐋 Meet the world’s rarest whale! 🐋

The Rice’s whale lives only in the Gulf of Mexico, mainly in DeSoto Canyon—and there are fewer than 50 left. Unlike most whales, they don’t migrate and dive deep to hunt anchovies & sardines. Protecting them means saving an entire ecosystem! 💙

Next stop on our artistic tour of the Jurassic dinosaurs of Africa’s Tendaguru Formation is Kentrosaurus. The plates and spikes along its back identify this animal as a stegosaur, and like all other stegosaurs, you will notice two pairs of spikes called a thagomizer. Like and subscribe for more!
