go to the link (www.ercot.com/gridmktinfo/...). at 8AM solar is 444 MW and load is 50,070 MW. At 9AM solar is 9,469 MW and load is 52,624. during that ramp up in solar (excluding wind in this case) ERCOT must dispatch down 6,471 MW to keep the system balanced. now do the reverse from hrs 18 to 20.

i have to disagree. look at the solar ramp (www.ercot.com/gridmktinfo/...) and compare to the load ramp. The huge difference in the change of solar output has to be managed by dispatching something else (most likely fossil fuels) up or down:
