The North American shipment of Blue Planet appears to have made landfall.

The thing I love most about GenCon is that for four whole days I get to unabashedly be my whole self while surrounded by so many instant friends. There’s nothing else like it.

Wife and I spend every summer (teachers) living on our Westsail in the San Juan and Gulf Islands. In fact, at anchor as I post.

Will likely retire to the boat, at least for a couple years.

How about a little Upwind on "Free RPG Day?"

I'm still rather proud of the unique, fast-paced, card-based mechanics that drive this game, and just want to share their potential with more people.

After owning it since the Kickstarter I finally got to play my first session. There is genius in the pages, but I wonder if I’m clever enough to let it out.

Had a great morning of gaming with an old friend. Godtear is a new title for me, and though it seems cool I think I’ll need another couple plays to decide if there are synergies to realize or if it’s wysiwyg.

We had the final session of the semester for my student WFRP game tonight.

Not to bury the lede, the most chaotic player, whose character had been calling herself the Dark Magic Lord since the first session, intentionally embraced Khorne while exploring the barrow of one of his minions.

The school where I work hosts a casino night and the kids bid on prizes with their “winnings.” Four friends, only one of whom had ever played an RPG before, won the Upwind one-shot I offered, and we finally got to play today. Apparently it blew their minds and they are already begging for a sequel.

Played our third session of The King’s Dilemma. Still sussing out the narrative nuances of the mechanics, but really enjoying it so far.

Wife and I played several rounds. Lots of laughs and ridiculous roleplaying. Stilted and silly at times, feels like it’ll reward multiple plays with more sophisticated and smoother interaction. Excited to go again. Convinced would be a great running game in the corner of a crowded game night.

Mostly avoid a shelf-of-shame with a rule that new games go to the top of the play queue. A notable exception’s been Inhuman Conditions - waiting for the perfect venue? Finally got over that and played it tonight. Internalizing the rules took a beat, but …1/2

I know for important environmental reasons I should embrace PDFs, but I love the heft of a good RPG book. The promise of fun and adventure seems so much more tangible in their physical forms.

Anyway, post your RPG shelfie, and let’s see what cool tastes we share…

One of my best friends is running us through his iteration of Nights Black Agents’ The Dracula Dossier. As a player aid, he had the annotated, in-universe version of Dracula printed and custom bound, then added copies of all the handouts in all the strategic places. He is a GMing legend…

One of the students made this sweet “thank you” card for me for running their game - even though it’s not actually DnD. I guess it’s like Kleenex, Xerox or Google.

She is super talented - whipped this up in minutes. The stuff she spends more time on looks like it came right out of a Ghibli movie.
