While this scandal relates to liquid biofuels, the same rules around accrediting and monitoring (or rather not monitoring) sustainability certification for wood #biomass, too.

Where did it come from? The investigative reporters suggest it may have been falsely labelled fossil diesel. This comes 10 yrs after ISCC certified Biodiese Kampen in NL, who were found guilty of fraud. Yet ISCC remains accredited for biofuel certification in EU and UK...

The refinery and the company behind it don't exist. No evidence that the certified trader exists either. While the certificate has been suspended, the responsible certification body, Certi W Baltic, has not. Yet fuel certified as coming from the non-existen refinery was shipped to Rotterdam...

Not the majority although they are the single biggest renewable diesel producer. Btw., they still refine crude oil, too. They also refine a lot of a crude palm oil fraction called PFAD from Indonesia and Malaysia, where palm oil is a leading cause of deforestation.

Renewable diesel is produced by oil companies like ConocoPhillips (who own Marathon), Phillips66, Eni, Total and others. It offers oil companies the chance to extend the lifespan of oil refineries that are no longer lucrative by converting them to biofuels.
