Probably helps that it's the first day of sunny weather after an icy cold spell and grey skies for what feels like weeks!

Yeah, aluminium is really easily recyclable. I'm not saying it's not a good material or that we shouldn't use it, just that it's not a suitable replacement for plastic en masse.

We also tax companies that sell any plastic without using at least 30% recycled material in their packaging. This should incentivise using more recycled material :)

Glad you asked, as I work in the recycling sector :) Our laws mean that big companies have to pay to recycle what they sell. We use Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs) which proves a tonne of packaging (such as plastic) has been recycled properly.

Claiming something *can't* be recycled is not the same as saying it *can*, but isn't.
And I'm not sure what country you're from, but here in the UK, plastic recycling goes really well. We have lots of systems in place to make sure it's recycled here and not sent abroad.

...plastic can most definitely be recycled.

Unfortunately, aluminium bottles are an awful alternative. Aluminium uses far more energy than plastic, both to recycle and to mine the raw materials. Another result of greenwashing sadly :/
