I’ve always thought that Nanopore sequencing is the future, theoretically, and the only reason it has not achieved dominance is due to its robustness issues. It’s cool, scalable, & portable. Why it’s not stable, I don’t know ; there are many factors - technological, logistical, and even managerial.
