bonus: it'll do some smart diff-ing and flag potential merge conflicts even if GitHub itself isn't catching it. GitHub only checks the immediate merge, not conflicts that might happen later in the stack

same navigation appears on the changes page so you can jump between PRs while reviewing code without losing your place
January 31, 2026 at 6:40 PM
adds a sidebar on the PR page showing the full stack with a "you are here" indicator. click any PR in the list to jump to it

anyway, once again. please try it thanks!

here's a dedicated page (which the ❓ icon redirects to) that explains and demo a lot of the underlying differences!

on branch mode only, you will also be able to cherrypick specific commits onto other branches.
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
on push, stack mode would ask you to create a named branch for each commit then push them each as separate branch. it will also show a "open PR" button that would let you open your PRs as stack
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
on push, branch mode maintain the existing behavior of pushing the given branch
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
stack mode would automatically rebase the rest of the stack on top of the new amendment
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
on amend, branch mode would create a new commit diverging from the existing branch
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
on "Stack mode", you rebase a subtree as how it used to work before
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
first off, drag-and-drop rebase. on "Branch mode", you rebase the "branch", not a subtree
January 23, 2026 at 2:02 PM
oh weird. the cursor changes to pointer as well but it's now showing in screen recording lol

along with it, is a full page wiki explaining the differences between them. while the update is not yet live, you can check out the new stack page and let me know if it make sense (or if anything is missing / confusing on there)!
