Cricket fan. Love travel and my dogs.
I'm not so sure of NSB as captain. Already a leader in a side that showed so little in Australia, now her views not required as a selector for her own side.
A staggeringly good player but I really don't understand removing Heather Knight when NSB is unlikely to be an upgrade as captain.

The use of AI at younger ages is possibly more of a concern. Using AI through adolescence has been shown to have a negative impact on cognitive development, in particular developing critical thinking skills.

I think the only issue is a lack of quality options to number. Look at Longman in QLD - Greens, Labor, Lib then One Nation, Trumpet of Dickheads, a disendorsed candidate and some bible basher. Pained me to number all 7 when 5 are a complete joke.
Be great to have a solid independent candidate.

I would have thought recreational cricket would be the least controversial place for trans participants. There are maybe 5 trans players I know of in women's comps in Queensland. A tiny fraction of the player base. Hasn't caused any issues.

I expect England as a group to have a pretty big summer. Good time for a new coach to arrive on the scene, they don't play Australia in a bi-lateral anytime soon.

This exactly. Who can sit through the shitshow that is politics at the minute, either in the US or here in Aus.

I've never understood why you would want a dual cab ute for a family car. It's a compromised Ute and a compromised wagon. But none of the cars on the list are "road tanks". Usually, this sort of rhetoric is reserved for F-Trucks, Rams et al.

I'm actually studying to change careers to teaching currently, I must say the more I hear the more I wonder if I'm better off staying an electrician.
I do wonder how I would react if confronted by a situation like that.

Student on student violence is obviously a bigger issue. A recent case, yesterday, saw one girl use her friends to lure a victim away so she could film her king hitting her. No doubt this will lead to an exclusion, but you do wonder what it is the impact for the student who remains.

I’m not so sure.
Aware of multiple incidents of parents in a public school being physically aggressive and verbally abusive to teachers and students.
Have seen the bruises from teachers and admin standing between adults and children.
Ridiculous teachers would ever be put in that position.

I can't remember a shield final that wasn't a big deal to be honest.
The issue us almost no one goes to games during regular season anymore. Sure, some of that just boils down work & scheduling. Some of it because the Aussie players rarely play anymore. Would've been nice to see Heady play for SA.

I've been recovering from shoulder reco since the Women's Ashes Test. Have been watching any and all cricket. Well except Champions Trophy, just couldn't get excited about that!

Had a few English players in the Brisbane premier comp for a while now, this year might be the most ever.
Improves the quality of comp, which really suffers when WNCL or WBBL is on. It's a decent standard to benefit the players coming over & let's face it, spring & summer in QLD beats indoor nets.

This is the first time I've watched IPL in years.
Most games have been good, lots of runs & close finishes in a couple. Surprising number of "easy" catches dropped to go with some absolute stunning grabs.
Very small boundaries & crowd whistles definitely an issue.

This is the big question, why exactly was the decision made.
Player reviews were surely done.
Bouchier and Capsey surely lucky to survive any review.
The spin department needs a serious review, in particular in ODIs. It seems the whole way England select sides & train are the most important items.

So, was Knight removed due to a drubbing away from home by the best team in the World? Or some team culture issue?
There are quite a few players I'd look at dropping long before worrying about the captain if looking at performance. Some Talent ID & selectors need to answer questions too!
March 27, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Absolutely.
Scrivens has to make the side and cement her place. Any captaincy talk now is absurd.
Not convinced Dean has the record or the skills to be captain yet either.
I’m still in the camp that Heather Knight is the best candidate, if not her might as well pick from a hat.

The Women's T20i was 65 & 67m square and 78m to cow and 77m to deep cover. It was only 67m straight but that's more to do with the shape of the playing surface.
March 26, 2025 at 9:54 AM
The boundaries are tiny. The AusvNZ Women's T20 match at Eden Park had bigger boundaries than the IPL games I've seen this year.
62m to square boundary & only 70 to the pockets is too small. Ideally, it'd be 75m square and 85m to the pockets. Less 6s from mishits & more running and tactics.

It's undoubtably a tough job. Heck it's even tough getting things right on a Saturday morning U15s match.
But Joel had to go. Should have gone straight after he said not out on that Stokes LBW.

Certainly, an unusual A side Australia picked. A couple of players are still earning their spot in state sides.
Players like Knott - who was on the bench in NZ twiddling her thumbs - Mack, Redmayne, Carey, Patterson etc. certainly had claim to be there.

Nida Dar probably hasn't had the greatest 12 months but seems a big call to move on from her.

A lot of what I have seen I don't consider AI.
Taking massive amounts of input generated by others to churn out a response to a question seems like something computers have always done.
March 20, 2025 at 10:49 PM
"Twas always thus and always thus will be".

Don't know why that popped into my head in Robin William's voice. Seemed apt I suppose.
I've avoided any knowing use of AI, for moral reasons and the fact that nearly everything I have seen has been utter tripe.
March 20, 2025 at 10:40 PM
At least there are some good ins for NZ.
Can't imagine they will get close to the Aussies on recent form, but hey it's a T20 so who knows.
